Q: WILL YOU GIVE ME FEEDBACK ON MY ESSAY OR BOOK PROPOSAL?

A: I wish I had the time to do this but unfortunately I don’t. Please post your work or question or link in the Facebook group; that way you can get feedback from up to 40 people and not just one!

Also, the reason I hire the spectacular Kristen McGuiness is so that there’s someone there to provide one-on-one feedback for you. Not only do you have consultation calls with her at the beginning and end of the program but she is also available for you to email her for feedback four times throughout these six months. Please take advantage of that! It is entirely up to you to drive on this once I make the email introduction (email her at kmcguiness@yahoo.com and cc me at anna@annadavid.com for all communication with her). Since you get to use her how you want to but with a limited number of communications, it forces you to get organized about what you’re going to do over the next few months. If you want to get her feedback on one of your essays, do that. If you want to have her read the introduction to your proposal or something else, do that. Essentially, pick and choose in terms of your priorities for the program and then reach out to her for each one.

Q: WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM KRISTEN?

In addition to the two phone calls, you get four opportunities for feedback from Kristen throughout the program. Please keep in mind that this is not just “Good work, keep going” feedback but a thorough, personal response so expect a two-week turnaround time (always cc me when you send your work to Kristen and feel free to follow up with me if you don’t hear back within that time frame).
The final time you get feedback will probably be in the month between when the program ends and your book proposal is due. Make sure you turn your work into Kristen FOUR WEEKS AHEAD OF THE PROPOSAL DUE DATE. This allows her time to get feedback to you and allows you time to incorporate it into your final proposal.

Q: CAN I SCHEDULE A CALL WITH YOU?

Unfortunately, no. The entire reason I started this program was so that writers could have access to the same thing my clients do but at an affordable rate (my clients pay $1000 an hour). Again, this is why I pay Kristen, created the Facebook group and have the webinars…so that you have everything you need and don’t need to talk to me.

Q: WHO DO I CONTACT IF I HAVE TROUBLE LOGGING INTO MY ACCOUNT?

A: If you can’t locate your sign in info, just sign in, go here and click “Lost your password.” You will receive an email where you can reset your password.

A: Once you sign up for this program, your monthly fee is automatically deducted.

Q: WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?

Each month is broken up into a different focus (detailed below). If you suddenly feel like you have no idea what you’re supposed to be doing, watch the videos for that month and that should clarify things.

Q: I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT…[BUILDING MY PROFILE/WRITING ESSAYS/MY CHAPTER OUTLINE/PROMO SECTION/BIO/MARKET ANALYSIS SECTION/LANDING AN AGENT]. CAN WE SCHEDULE A CALL TO GET THE ANSWER?

A: All questions you have should be answered in the videos on that topic. If they’re not, please post them in the Facebook group because if it’s something you’re confused by, others may be as well. It helps me to know if more than one person feels something is missing so I can make sure to add it the program.

Q: BUT WHAT IF I MISS A WEBINAR? CAN WE TALK THEN?

A: Alas, no. It’s up to you to make it to the webinars or to watch the replay if you cannot.

Q: WHEN ARE THE WEBINARS?

They are the last Sunday of every month at 5 pm PST, unless it’s a holiday weekend or some other unanticipated circumstance arises. (You will be notified well in advance of this.) You will receive an email from me the week before each webinar and you have to RSVP for it in order to be able to attend. PLEASE let me know ahead of time if you cannot make it.

Q: HOW DO YOU PICK WHO GETS THE MEETING WITH THE AGENT AND PUBLISHER?

A: Kristen and I read through all your submitted proposals and determine which proposal we think has the best chance of selling. It is not about which is the so-called “best” but which seems to be the most commercial for the current marketplace. Please, please do not get discouraged if you are not selected. You’re all talented—that’s why you’re in this program. We are merely two people with publishing experience doing our best to make what tends to be a nearly impossible choice.
